Place North West Website

The Brief: Rebuild our websites to be reliable and user friendly

Place North West are an online publisher who have been established over 15 years and have become the region’s leading authority on property and regeneration. They publish daily news and reports, combined with a calendar of topical events covering the North West and beyond. The success of their publications enables them to offer a broad range of marketing, advertising and sponsorship opportunities to the community they serve. In addition they have built a network of over 12,000 property professionals who have subscribed to receive their free daily round-up of built environment news.

As everything they do is online our brief was to rebuild the two websites they operate in a way that would make the daily task of creating and disseminating information as user friendly as possible, both for readers and the journalists who put together the publications. In addition both the website and newsletter needed to be a vehicle for advertising and sponsorship opportunities, so flexibility and ease of use in terms of ad placement around the site was also key. Last but not least, Place North West wanted a website that would stand the test of time and enable them to further grow and develop their online offering.

The Solution

Easy to use and clear platform for readers, advertisers and journalists

Although this project was on a much larger scale than a typical brochure site, the overall process commenced in the same way. We undertook a series of discovery sessions with the client to ascertain exactly what the key issues were. From this point the planning branched out into two different avenues – the design and build of the two main websites – Place North West and Place Tech – and the delivery of a newsletter platform.

WordPress was selected for the main websites as its ease of use for posting daily news articles meant that it was ideal for the journalists working on the publications. In order to deliver the flexibility and longevity that the client requested we proposed a totally bespoke and modular website build that would be able to be developed and adapted to suit their changing business needs.

The next challenge was to find a newsletter system that would suit both journalists, advertisers and readers alike. After conducting our research we were able to propose a shortlist to the client which suited their specific needs. It was decided to operate this separately to the main websites but fully integrated so that the uploading of content would work seamlessly between the two without the need for duplication of effort.

The resulting combination means that Place North West now have a platform that they can use to provide a much greater range of advertising and sponsorship opportunities for their clients. With all the historical content carried over to the new website, the important role that Place North West holds in the region’s property sector is set to continue for many years to come. We continue to work with Place North West to support their online presence via our website retainer service.
